1) Insure your ring.

When it comes to weddings (and life), anything can happen! You’ve just been given one of the most invaluable gifts you’ll ever receive. Taking the extra step to insure your ring will give you peace of mind!

2) Don’t start planning right away.

Take a moment to breathe and enjoy being engaged! You have a lot of decisions ahead of you, so pop some champagne, relax, and have fun!

3) Talk about it.

You two have a lot of planning to do, so it’s good to go into everything on the same page. Figure out what your priorities are for the day, and don’t be afraid to share your dream ideas. Include all of the decision-makers in this part of the planning. It’s easier to divide and conquer if you know your whole team is in the loop!

4) Don’t pick a date. Pick a season.

Have you always dreamt of fall colors, or is an outdoor summer wedding your style? Starting with the ideal season for your wedding gives you so many more options in terms of venues and other vendors.

5) Get your guest count.

The final exact count will fluctuate, but it’s important to have a good “guess-timate” early in the game. The last thing you want to do is fall in love with a venue that won’t suit your needs. An informed guest count will help you narrow your options, and will have an affect on many of the decisions that follow.
