Chicago is a city known for its comedy. On any given night, there are so many opportunities for seeing sketch, improv, stand-up, and music. Well, imagine combining the world of improv with the emotions of the wedding day — two scenarios where anything can happen! That was the setting for Erin & Alex’s wedding at Revolution Brewery. These two comedic actors were long time friends who fell head over heels for each other, and their history and journey together just added to the intensity of the day’s emotion. Add in a close-knit circle of artist friends, and witness all of the personality that makes us love our job so much! This is our first wedding where the best man sang his toast!
Actors know how to tell a story, and Erin & Alex had details throughout their day that showcased their past, and hinted at all that is yet to come. The postcard on the groom’s gift was a reprint of a poster from the speakeasy where they first met. Alex brought down the house with his gift to Erin: a series of letters to be opened at future moments in their life together (including their first anniversary and the birth of their first child). Needless to say, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room!
With a nod to old Hollywood glam, Erin & Alex were camera ready. Alissa’s editorial eye was a perfect match for these two lovebirds, who have experience being directed and posed. And while they knew how to work the camera, it was even more special to see them let go, have fun, and enjoy the moment. After all, that’s what improv is all about!

A birthday is always a special occasion, but you need to go all out for a milestone like turning 40. It was Akin’s 40th birthday party, and his family & friends wanted to celebrate him in style. This was a birthday extravaganza that most people only dream of having!
You know you’re in great hands when you work with Kesh Designs! From the black tie attire to the atmospheric mix of candles and mood lighting, this theme of the evening was a luxurious play on the style of James Bond. This was a party with a purpose, and it was made clear in every detail. All of the decor accents reminded us that we were there to “Eat. Drink & Celebrate.” because this was Akin’s birthday “mission”. After experiencing this one-of-kind celebration and seeing the look of awe on the guests’ faces, we can safely say…mission accomplished! Happy birthday, Akin!

In our line of work, we hear the word marriage a lot.
There is the marriage between two people, and there is also the marriage between two families. It was an honor to watch the two cultures of Suman & Kristen’s families come together. The personal touches and traditional details their relatives brought to this day was truly inspiring. The women of Suman’s family helped dress Kristen for the ceremony, and Kristen even wore Suman’s mother’s sahris.
From a style standpoint, you also have the marriage between the wedding day and the actual venue. With the help of Food for Thought, and the rest of the vendor team, their ceremony and reception were filled with beautiful intricacies. The School of the Art Institute ballroom is such a classic Chicago location, and Suman & Kristen’s decor complimented the already existing space in a lovely way. From the way the colors of their flowers accentuated the curtains, to the unique angles we were able to capture from the second floor vantage point, this wedding day felt right at home.

We’ve been looking forward to Heidi & Colin’s wedding ever since their engagement session. They are such a fun couple and have great personal style, so we just knew this day would be memorable. Set at Newberry Library, which Heidi describes as “a special part of the city…free from busy traffic and noise,” this day was filled with personal touches that created a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. It was exactly the kind of intimate and unique occasion they wanted.
Heidi had told us that this would be a “Do-It-Yourself” kind of wedding, but we had no idea how much care she and her family were putting into every detail. Heidi is a graphic designer and created all of the programs, place cards, and menus for the day. Her mother made her wedding dress, including a heart a patch reminiscent of the similar patch sewn on one of Heidi’s favorite childhood dresses. Her veil and hairpiece were a handmade gift from her grandmother.
It really was a family affair, Colin and Charles (his brother-in-law) wore ties that had belonged to his late-grandfather. All of the tie-clips were gifts from Colin embodying the personality of the wearer. If you look closely, you might see a Dr. Seuss tie or a Batman tie clip! These little accents were perfect ways to include their family and friends, making sure everyone’s personality had a chance to shine. It was an absolute blast to be a part of this wedding day, and to see all the little things that tell Heidi & Colin’s story.

The wedding day is a series of moments. It flies by so quickly that couples often describe it as a blur. Showcasing the natural beauty of that blur is what we do best. The love, the emotion, the family and friends–these are the things we love to capture. We aim to delight and surprise you, showing you the moments that you might have missed on the wedding day.
Your flower girls and ring bearers are always an adorable source of inspiration. They are with you for much of your day, watching the adults around them with wonder and awe. They have absolutely no filter and show you exactly what they are feeling. And they tend to have the same effect on the adults around them. They remind us to laugh, give us moments of pure joy, and sometimes steal the show. Even if you did not get to see them in the moment, you would never want to miss some of the cutest, most precious parts of your day.
